In no particular order… let’s welcome some new #dahlias to the #flowerfarm in 2026! 🥔 Each year I buy a small number of tubers from several new varieties to try at our farm. Each variety will have a limited number of stems available throughout the season. 📓The goal is to continue to #explore new dahlias and to find what works best for our customers and our farm. #saturdays are special. And are my favorite day of the week. They looks so different for everyone, but give us the time to prioritize our important things. Whether that is working hard to support your life and goals, or if it just means taking a breath and slowing down. I gifted my #flowerfarm to Saturday in name because how I spend that day each week is reflected in my business values. So how do I spend my Saturdays? 🗺️Exploring | Whether it is learning to grow a new flower, finding new sales outlets, or inventing ways to connect my hobbies and business, I am always looking for new ways to #grow. 🤲Connecting | Sharing joy with others and building strong relationships only expands my passion for #flowerfarming and my business. My favorite interactions come with learning what my customers like, need, and want from their flowers. 💪Building Consistency | I will always be someone who shows up. In my business as in life, I am working hard to establish sustainable routines, systems, and practices that bring us back every year. 🛏️Slowing Down | Space to breathe and slow moments deepen our appreciation for what is around us, and let us show up more meaningfully for the things that matter. My focus for the farm is slow and steady, seeking the same quality we find in those quiet moments. 🌼Embracing the Seasons | Here in #maryland we experience the four seasons (more or less!). Each one brings something special, whether it is the excitement of new growth, the warmth of long days, reflection as the world goes dormant, or the space to dream away through cold nights. Twelve months of #dahlias!

In the spirit of a slow #saturday, I’m spending this Monday evening on a hobby—sketching! I am working on a concept that popped into my brain while trying to fall asleep one night last week, and no surprise—there are #dahlias involved. It’s my first time growing #ranunculus and I’m so excited to see root growth and little sprouts! I was nervous about these because I bought them last fall and forgot about them—but their storage in paper bags and pine shavings seemed to work well for #overwintering. 😅 I’m not quite ready to plant them out yet on the #flowerfarm, but welcome little buddies!!!
